Bahrain Elections

Bahrain holds parliamentary and municipal elections with ban on opposition candidates. Over 330 candidates are competing for 40 seats of Bahrain’s lower house of parliament.

The country’s main opposition group, Al-Wefaq, is barred from country’s elections. Rights groups have described Bahrain’s Parliamentary vote as “political repression”.

Bahrain’s top Shia cleric Sheikh Isa Qassem says participation in Parliamentary vote amounts to betrayal of country.
