Lula’s astonishing comeback

In Brazil, leftist presidential candidate Lula da Silva has won the country’s presidential runoff. Lula has called for peace and unity after he narrowly defeated incumbent Jair Bolsonaro in a polarized election.

He vowed to govern for Brazilians and not just those who voted for him. The newly-elected president said his win is a victory for a democratic movement. But what were the contributing factors to the downfall of Bolsonaro? And how did Lula make a comeback?
