Islamic Unity Conference in London condemns anti-Iran riots

Muslim religious and community leaders from a variety of sects gathered in London on Sunday for the 24th International Islamic Unity conference.

The annual event held at the Islamic Centre of England aims to promote religious unity, combat sectarianism and defend Islamic values.

This event coincides with a similar unity conference held annually inside Iran. The Islamic Republic has come under sustained attack in recent weeks from western groups advocating for regime change following the unfortunate death of Iranian woman Mahsa Amini.

Many groups are involved in backing the anti-Iran riots. Most notably, western-based Iranian dissidents, and supporters of the MKO terrorist group. Although they are divided on doctrine, one factor unites them, Islamophobia.

The anti-Iran riots have expanded to include an international campaign condemning Islam and Islamic concepts, such as the hijab. It's now up to Muslim leadership to find ways of combating the tide of anti-Muslim abuse. Initiatives such as this intend to inspire a fight back.
