Muslims in Pakistan celebrate Prophet Muhammad’s birthday

Thousands of Muslims have held a gathering in the Pakistani capital Islamabad to celebrate the birth anniversary of Islam's Holy Prophet Muhammad.

The occasion is one of the key festivities on the Islamic calendar and holds a special significance for Muslims around the world. The same goes for the people of Pakistan, who are always excited about commemorating this day.

The participants in the ceremonies say the day provides Muslims with a great opportunity to understand the teachings and the message of Prophet Muhammad.

In Islamabad, many public and private buildings as well as streets, markets and mosques are decorated with buntings and illuminated to mark the auspicious occasion.
