Khayyam satellite

Iran commissions and Russia launches a new satellite into orbit, raising concerns in the West. But the remote-sensing Kayyam satellite made by both countries and named after the 11th and 12th century Iranian poet and polymath Omar Khayyam, is only mostly for environmental use.

It would partly be used to mind Iran’s borders as well, and regional threats in West Asia. But it has no need for surveying Ukraine, contrary to [anonymous] US fears expressed in say the Washington Post.
