After months of being on the run, Israeli forces assassinated Ibrahim al-Nabulsi, a fighter and member of the al-Aqsa martyrs brigades in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus along with his fellow Islam Sabbouh and a 16 year old teen, Hussein Jamal Taha.

Israeli troops raided Nablus early Tuesday and surrounded a building in the Old City where al-Nabulsi had barricaded himself in. A gunfight lasted for several hours, Israeli soldiers had even fired anti-tank missiles at the building. At least sixty Palestinians were wounded according to Palestinian health ministry.

Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid had reacted to Nablus operation, saying that the elimination of whom he described as terrorist Ibrahim Nabulsi is another step in Israel’s uncompromising fight against terrorism.

On Friday Israel with a decision from Lapid, launched airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip; an operation that lasted for three days against the Islamic Jihad resistance group leaving 43 Palestinians killed and over 350 wounded.

A number of West Bank cities observed a commercial strike as part of a period or mourning and in protest of the killings in Nablus. Protests have taken place in Ramallah and al-Khalil where at least one Palestinian was shot dead during the clashes in the city.

It has become clear that Israel is targeting any Palestinian who is honored as a real fighter. The regime might succeed in assassinating those fighters like Ibrahim Al-Nabulsi, but they would even be remembered as heroes and icons, who devoted their lives to fighting Israeli soldiers.
