Belgian rider Dries De Bondt has led a breakaway group to win stage 18 of the Giro d'Italia in a closely-fought sprint to the line.
De Bondt who was third with less than a kilometer to go, timed his attack to perfection to beat Edoardo Affini by less than half a wheel length for his first stage victory.
Magnus Cort was the 3rd to cross the finish line. Meanwhile Richard Carapaz finished safely in the peloton to keep his 3-seconds lead over Jai Hindley intact in the general classification. Mikel Landa is 65 seconds behind the pace-setter.
