A new poll shows US President Joe Biden's recent job approval ratings, which are averaging 14 points lower than those early in his presidency, approval rating among younger generations of Americans.

The Gallup poll released on Thursday found that Biden’s approval rating among millennials and Generation Z respondents had dropped nearly 20 points since he became the president on January 20, 2021,

Only 39 percent of Generation Z respondents said they approve of Biden’s performance as president, which is a 21-point decline from 60 percent of respondents who approved of the president’s handling of the job when he first took the White House.

Meanwhile, 41 percent of millennial respondents said they approve of Biden’s job as president, which is a 19-point decline from 60 percent of respondents who approved of his job as president through his first months in the White House.

Thirty percent of Generation Z of Democrats said they approve of Biden’s job as president, while 52 percent of independents and 18 percent of Republicans surveyed agreed, showed the poll.

Some 37 percent of millennials Democrats approve of the job Biden has done as president, while 53 percent of independents and 20 percent of Republicans surveyed also approve of his job as president.

According to the poll, 67 percent of Black respondents approve of Biden’s job performance as president, seeing a 20-point decline from the 87 percent of respondents who approved of his job as president when he first took office.

Fifty-two percent of Hispanic respondents and 35 percent of white respondents also approve of the job Biden is doing as president.

Biden's job approval has changed relatively little among baby boomers and not at all among traditionalists. As a result, older Americans are now more likely to approve of the president than younger Americans are.

The Gallup analysis is based on aggregated Gallup poll data since Biden became president, dividing his presidency into three distinct periods defined by his average approval rating at the time.

According to another poll released on Wednesday, Biden's public approval rating fell to 41 percent this week, a high inflation rate in the country.

The Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll strikes a blow to Biden’s Democratic Party's hopes of retaining control of Congress in November's elections.

Democrats are widely expected to lose control of the House and possibly the Senate to Republicans, who are likely to block many of Biden's legislative efforts.

The drop indicates that the small burst of momentum the Democratic president briefly enjoyed last week when his approval rating hit 45%, has stalled.

The president’s dismal approval rating suggests he has led the country to the brink of a recession or worse.

Justin Wolfers, an economist at the University of Michigan, said, “We’re living through a generationally scarring moment. Things still feel so precarious, so it’s understandable people would feel a greater sense of economic risk, like their prosperity is fragile.”
