The 98th version of Tehran Derby between Persepolis and Esteghlal football teams has ended in a 1-all stalemate.
In a match held in front of about 20,000 fans at the Azadi Stadium, Ali Nemati gave Persepolis the lead in the 40th minute with a bullet header.
But the Red Army could not hold on for the much-needed win as Esteghlal substitute Rudy Gestede equalized the match with a diving header in the 81st minute.
With the result, the Blues remained top of the standings with 55 points, 6 above Persepolis, with seven matches remaining.
