People in the blockaded Gaza Strip have attended a big ceremony to mark the 54th anniversary of the Palestinian Wounded Persons Day.

The annual event pays tribute to the tens of thousands of Palestinians who got injured during Israeli wars and aggression. Thousands of injured Palestinians suffered from permanent disabilities during Israeli wars. Israeli forces have also injured some thirty thousand peaceful Palestinian protesters who were taking part in the Great March of Return rallies.

Hamas movement which organized the event accused the Israeli regime of committing crimes against the Palestinian people.

During the Israeli war in May of 2021, over 2,200 Palestinians were injured, including 685 children and 480 women, some of whom may suffer a long-term disability requiring rehabilitation.

Palestinians say that Tel Aviv’s crimes will continue to go unpunished as long as it enjoys protection from Western countries. The Islamic Jihad movement accused the Unites States of encouraging Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people.

The Israeli blockade in place since 2007 has made it even worse for wounded Gazans who require rehabilitation and artificial limbs.

Israeli forces have killed and injured thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since 2008 amid what observers describe as an international conspiracy of silence.
