How West is culpable for Ukraine crisis

As the military conflict in Ukraine rages on, these protesters have gathered here on Sunday to call for an immediate ceasefire and to say no to NATO’s eastward expansion.

Since the end of the Cold War in the early 90s, 14 former soviet republics have joined the western military alliance. Ukraine wants to be next. The Russians say they won’t allow it. NATO-nations reaction has been extraordinary.

And while anti-war campaigners call for de-escalation and diplomacy, US-led western mainstream media are accused of fueling the crisis.

What experts call the West’s new cold war with Russia, has turned hot. The threat of further escalation is in the air. Will the second European military conflict of the last two decades, be the last?
