Iran’s capital Tehran has hosted the awards ceremony of the 14th Fajr Visual Arts Festival. From painters to photographers, sculptors and visual artists are welcomed in the most diverse art event.

This year’s festival put on display some 11,000 artworks from more than 4,300 artists who competed in different art forms of painting, photography, sculpture, calligraphy, miniature, illustration, cartoon, graphic design and new media. And the best works are honored and awarded.

The closing ceremony also paid tribute to veteran Iranian artists, including prominent painter and stylist graphic designer, Mohammad Bahrami, whose artistic life stretches for eight decades.

The 95 year-old artist is known as the pioneer of illustration and modern printing industry in Iran; so he has a lot to tell us on art; but he kept it concise and to the point.

The 14th Fajr Visual Arts Festival is held annually along with other festivals under the umbrella name of Fajr in different areas, including film, theater and music to celebrate the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and also to honor the top names in different fields of art and culture.

Dating back to almost the human history itself, visual arts have always been entwined with human life, and have remained as genuine, with the least impact by technology.
Experts here say visual artists are not just appreciated for their delicate artworks, but for their role in preserving this ancient legacy.
