Spanish Super Cup: Real Madrid 3-2 Barcelona

El Clasico’s Real Madrid have qualified for the Spanish Cup final after edging out Barcelona 3-2 in extra time.

The Whites opened the scoring on 25 minutes when Vinicius Junior ran with Karim Benzema’s assist and smashed the ball into the back of the net. But the Catalan club equalized before the break as the ball touched Luuk De Jong’s foot and he scored on the rebound.

Benzema gave Xavi’s men a scare in the 67th minute. And a few minutes later he collected the ball and sent it home from close range to retake the lead for real. However a relentless Barcelona forced overtime through Ansu Fati after 83 minutes who nodded in a beautiful pass into the box.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side scored their third after substitute Fede Valverde bagged the winner sending the Whites to the final stage of the Spanish Super Cup. The La Liga leaders will next face either Atletico Madrid or Athletic Bilbao who will play on Thursday.
