Many scenarios that aren't even imagined will happen between now and 2024: Analyst

American political analyst Myles Hoenig says that many scenarios that aren't even imagined will happen between now and 2024, like both Donald Trump and Joe Biden are elderly and could even die before the next US presidential election.

Hoenig, a former Green Party candidate for Congress, made the remarks in an interview with Press TV on Tuesday while commenting on a new poll which suggests that US President Joe Biden, a Democrat, would lose to former Republican President Donald Trump in a hypothetical matchup if the 2024 election were held today.

According to the Harvard CAPS-Harris poll released exclusively to The Hill newspaper on Monday, 48 percent of voters said they would back Trump, compared to 45 percent who said they would vote for Biden. Another 8 percent said they were unsure.

Fifty percent of men said they would vote for Trump while 43 percent said they would back Biden. However, the results were evenly split at 46 percent among women.

Meanwhile, according to another report, Democrats are worried that Biden’s sinking approval rating will cost them their slim majorities in Congress in next year’s midterm elections.

With historical midterm headwinds and a Republican-led redistricting effort already at work, many Democrats fear that unless their party leader reverses his current slide, Congress will be handed to Republicans in 2022, according to a report by POLITICO.

A recent USA TODAY/Suffolk Poll found that 59 percent of voters disapprove of Biden’s job performance. A stunning 46 percent of respondents said they believe Biden is doing a worse job as president than expected.

“A year away from a presidential election is an eternity. Fortunes can change overnight. People forget that before 9/11 most New Yorkers would have wanted Giuliani impeached or removed and overnight he became America’s mayor. Candidate Jimmy Carter was a dark horse who became president. Look how Ocasio-Cortez defeated an entrenched powerhouse,” he said.

“It’s no surprise that the polls for a potential rematch between Biden and Trump are very close, with Trump in the early lead. When times are difficult, the incumbent is usually behind. But when times are good, the incumbent has to show it and the opposition will push the opposite narrative. Forty-eight percent might be approving of Trump, but never in his short political life have those numbers ever gone above 50,” he stated.

“Many things can change in a year’s time. The economy could look hopeful. COVID could be more of a nuisance than wreaking havoc as it’s doing now. Both candidates are elderly and could die. Trump could be indicted federally or by states. A new crisis will happen between now and then and how it’s handled or how it started will affect campaign dynamics,” he noted.

“There is turmoil in the Republican Party now, with the racist, fascistic lunatic fringe challenging the moderately racist, fascistic, lunatic establishment,” he said.

“McCarthy could become the next Majority Leader or one of Trump’s people, with neither being able to govern or control the party with Trump as both the battering ram and the door.  Democrats could keep one of the chambers as abortion and women’s health rights take center stage,” he added.

“How many more scenarios are there that aren’t even imagined!” he concluded.
