Turkey’s Galatasaray have defeated France’s Marseille 4-2 in Istanbul to go top of Group E.
Alexandru Cicaldau put Galatasaray in front after scoring with a precise low shot inside 12 minutes, then an own goal gave the hosts a 2-goal cushion. Just after the hour-mark, Galatasaray made it 3-0 when Sofiane Feghouli tapped the ball home from close range. Soon after, Arkadiusz Milik failed to convert his penalty but pounced on the rebound to pull one back for Marseille. But, Ryan Babel put the match beyond doubt by netting the fourth with a sublime finish with 7 minutes remaining. Milik’s 2nd in the 85th minute was a mere consolation for Marseille as the best they can hope for now, is a place in the Conference League play-offs. That is while, Galatasary advanced to the knockout stage.
