Lawyers for Britain’s Prince Andrew call his sexual abuse case in the United States a “baseless lawsuit.”

In the court document filed by Andrew’s lawyers, Virginia Giuffre, his accuser, was accused of trying “to achieve another payday at his expense and at the expense of those closest to him.”

It was referring to the July 14 deadline the prince is facing over the case in relation to his shady connection with the disgraced pedophile Jeffery Epstein.

“Virginia Giuffre may well be a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of Jeffrey Epstein, and nothing can excuse, nor fully capture, the abhorrence and gravity of Epstein’s monstrous behavior against Giuffre, if so,” read the document

The document is part of an attempt by the British prince to have US District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan, New York, drop the lawsuit filed by the woman who has accused him of abusing her when she was a teenager.

Giuffre, 38, was underage at the time of Andrew's alleged abuse, which she said occurred around the time his friend, the financier Jeffrey Epstein, was sexually abusing her.

The prince stepped down from royal duties as details emerged about his relationship with Epstein, a registered sex offender who killed himself in a Manhattan jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

‘Out of jail free card’

Andrew is under pressure to shed more light on the nature and extent of Epstein’s relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell, the daughter of the disgraced media mogul, Robert Maxwell.

Maxwell – who is a British citizen – is accused of acting as a pimp for Epstein by procuring underage girls for his sexual gratification.

“However, and without diminishing the harm suffered as a results of Epstein’s alleged misconduct, Prince Andrew never sexually abused or assaulted Giuffre. He unequivocally denies Giuffre’s false allegations against him.”

The Duke of York has been accused by Giuffre of having raped her at the London home of convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein's longtime associate, Ghislaine Maxwell.

His lawyers are also trying to use a settlement involving Epstein in 2009 to argue that the case must be closed.

“Epstein’s former attorney, Alan Dershowitz, and Prince Andrew are axiomatically among the releasees in that 2009 settlement agreement, they said.

A lawyer for Giuffre, David Boies, suggested in a statement that the trick could show the US case against Andrew is serious.

"Prince Andrew's attempt now to use the 2009 release as a get out of jail free card shows how desperate he is to dodge and duck the facts of what he did," Boies said.
