Israeli settlement expansion
Israelis have started the construction of new settler units in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron Al-Khalil. The project, which was approved by Israeli authorities four years ago, includes building 31 settler units in a military base.
Palestinian residents in al-Khalil say the new neighborhood would result in an increase in violence and consequently more restrictions on them. About one thousand Israeli settlers live in al-Khalil under heavy military protection among more than 200-thousand Palestinians. All Israeli settlements are illegal under international law.
