Protesters took to the streets of the capital Khartoum, calling for protection of the revolution and the realization of its goals. Some reports say security forces attacked a group of demonstrators near the parliamentary headquarters.

Thursday’s rally came after a rival group rallied in support of the military leaders.

Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok emphasized earlier that Sudan is facing the worst and most dangerous crisis, that threatens the transition, and even threatens the entire country.

Protesters said that the demonstration was orderly and peaceful, chanted slogans calling for the completion of government institutions, and a comprehensive reform that includes all state institutions.

Following an aborted coup attempt on September 21, tensions between Sudanese military and civilian leaders resurfaced. The military accused the civilian politicians of quarreling over positions while civilian members of the government criticized the military leaders for claiming the sole right” to lead the country through the transitional period.
