Champions League: Manchester United 3-2 Atalanta

Manchester United have once again dragged their fans through the whole gamut of emotions from utter despair to pure elation. They saw their team go from the bottom to the top of their group in the space of six minutes after mounting a remarkable second half comeback to defeat Atalanta 3-2.

The visitors took the lead in the 15th minute when Mario Pasalic tapped in a low Davide Zappa-costa cross.

And just before the half-hour mark, Old Trafford was stunned into silence as Merih Demiral rose to plant home a rather comfortable header from a corner.

United were in trouble and duly rallied after the break. They pulled one back when an elegant Bruno Fernandes flick released Marcus Rashford who finished with aplomb.

Fernandez also provided for United’s equalizer, which Harry Maguire swept home after an Edinson Cavani dummy.

And nine minutes from time, the turnaround was sealed with an impressive header by Cristiano Ronaldo. Old Trafford was bouncing again.

The result lifts Manchester United atop of Group F with six points, while Atalanta are second with four.
