Thousands of Muslims marched through major streets of Suleja to mark the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad. For members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, the celebration has been going on for a week because it was designated as the unity week by the Late Founder of Iran’s Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

Members of the Islamic Movement said Muslims must unite to defeat the seeds of discord planted by enemies of Islam in the name of Shi’a/Sunni sectarian divide.

They condemned the various terror attacks resulting in the killing of Muslims in Afghanistan and in Nigeria, which they said may not be unconnected with global arrogance to plunge the Muslim communities into chaos in order to steal resources.

These incidents, the Islamic Movement is the result of disunity, so Muslims around the world must unite.

Members of the Islamic Movement recalled that their leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky has always emphasized that unity among Muslims is about understanding each other, and working together for the benefit of the larger Islamic Ummah.

They said although this is an auspicious occasion, it is still important to recall the Zaria Massacre where more than three hundred and forty -even of their members were killed.
