German Bundesliga: Bayer Leverkusen 1-5 Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have returned to the top of the German Bundesliga after thrashing Bayer Leverkusen 5-1 at the Bay Arena.

The defending champions took the lead just 2 minutes into the game, when Robert Lewandowski netted with a brilliant back-heel from close range.

The Polish Superstar doubled the advantage, after tapping the ball home from inside the box in the 30th minute.

The Bavarians killed off the contest in 3 minutes as German veteran Thomas Muller struck from close range, before setting up Serge Gnabry to add the 4th with a clinical finish.

And moments later, Gnabry played a One-Two with Leon Goretzka, and scored with a brilliant calm finish to register the 5th for Bayern.

Patrick Schick managed to pull One back for Leverkusen before the hour-mark, but it was a mere consolation, as Bayern climbed to the Top of the League with 19 points, 1 point ahead of Borussia Dortmund, while Leverkusen remain 3rd with 16 points.
