UEFA Nations League: France beat Spain 2-1 to win maiden title

France have claimed the UEFA Nations League trophy for the first time, after staging a 2-1 comeback win over Spain in the final showdown at San Siro.

After an hour of goalless action, the match burst into life in the 64th minute when Spanish captain Sergio Busquets found Mikel Oyarzabal, who outmuscled his marker before firing a low shot into the bottom corner.

But shortly after, France responded in stunning fashion with their talisman Karim Benzema cutting inside from the left and curling home a super strike beyond the finger-tips of the keeper.

The Frenchmen then came up with the golden shot of the night in the 80th minute when Theo Hernandez played in Kylian Mbappé for a one on one, where the PSG star produced a step-over before slotting-home the winner.
