Resumption of JCPOA talks

Iran has reiterated its readiness to return to the talks aimed at salvaging the 2015 nuclear deal but says the country has first to review the minutes of the previous rounds of Vienna talks. Foreign ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said the talks could be resumed by early November. He said, however, that the biggest issue, in his view, is the removal of 800 illegal and unilateral sanctions imposed by former US president Donald Trump after he pulled his country out of the Iran nuclear deal in 2018. Iran and the remaining signatories have held six rounds of talks in the Austrian capital since April in order to revive the 2015 deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, JCPOA. The talks stopped in June, pending the start of Iran's new government.

He also hailed the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah for supporting the Syrian Army in its fight against terrorists. Susan said the Arab nation is about to achieve the final victory in the war imposed over ten years ago.

Venezuela-Colombia ties

Venezuela says it will reopen its border with Colombia on Tuesday, after a nearly three-year closure due to diplomatic tensions between the two neighbors. Venezuelan Vice-President Delcy Rodriguez said the decision to open the border has been taken in view of brotherhood and cooperation between the people of Colombia and Venezuela. Colombian President Ivan Duque echoed the call, saying he has also ordered officials to begin the reopening process as soon as possible. He said the move would benefit people of both countries. Caracas closed the border in February 2019 amid tensions over Colombia’s recognition of Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido as interim president. Trade between the two countries once amounted to some seven billion dollars per year before the border closure.
