Atletico Madrid beat Barcelona 2-0 at home

Atletico Madrid have upset slumping Barcelona 2-nil at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.

Thomas Lemar put the defending champions in front in the 23rd minute with a precise shot from inside the box. Atletico piled on the pressure and put the match to bed when Luis Suarez slotted the ball home against his former club before the break. With the victory, Diego Simeone's side went level on points with their city rivals, Real at the top of La Liga, but they are 2nd only on goal difference, while Barcelona are 8th in the standings on 12 points.
