People in Pakistan mark Arbaeen

Muhammad Toori

Press TV, Karachi

Mourners across the southern port city flocked to the downtown Karachi to join the main congregation. Miles covered on foot; mourners walked from their neighborhoods all the way to join the main procession before the mausoleum of the founding father Muhammad Ali Jinnah to show their respect for the grandson of Prophet Muhammad.

Mourners have once again gathered here to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of their beloved Imam who sacrificed his life to protect the faith and refused to pledge allegiance to the tyrant of his time.

Stand like Hussain is their chant against Yazid of their time that they believe is the US and Israel who have unleashed Takfiri forces in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan. These mourners while beating their chests, reciting eulogies in remembrance of the hardships of Prophet's children, refresh the memories of that tragedy and protest against tyrants of the time.

People draw inspirations from Imam Hussain's philosophy of a "Freeman" that his devotees and die-hard follower believe will remain a ray of hope for ages to come and till then millions across the globe will keep flocking Karbala to refresh their allegiance with their Imam.
