Iran: IAEA report on safeguards 'politicized, exaggerated'

Iran has criticized the International Atomic Energy Agency for failing to reflect the Islamic Republic’s constructive interaction with the Agency and choosing to magnify “trivial issues.”
In one of his latest reports on Iran, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi says the lack of progress in clarifying questions about traces of uranium found in four different locations in Iran seriously affect the Agency’s ability to provide assurance of the peaceful nature of the country’s nuclear program.
In his address to the IAEA Board of Governors, Iranian Ambassador Kazem Gharibabadi said that statement was an overt exaggeration.
Tehran maintains that some of the Agency’s claims are based on non-authentic and unsubstantiated images with no evidence to back them up.
What needs to be noticed, Tehran says, is that there are no safeguards-related issues when it comes to Iran’s current and ongoing nuclear activities.
“Iran’s envoy said the director general should avoid raising artificial concerns, warning this approach could turn into an obstacle for future good-will interactions between the two sides.”
