US Open: Medvedev eases past Evans into quarters

Daniil Medvedev of Russia has cruised into the quarterfinals of the US Open after dismantling Dan Evans in straight sets.

The World Number 2 was at his best on Sunday as he committed only 6 unforced errors in the first set to take it 6-3. His dominant display continued in the 2nd when he broke the Brit to Love in the first game en route to a 6-4 win. The Russian did not drop a point behind his first serve in the decider to secure his victory at 6-3. Medvedev, who is aiming to win his first major at Flushing Meadows, will next meet Dutch qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp in the last 8.
