The Union Berlin have earned their 1st victory in the new Bundesliga season, after edging past Borussia Monchengladbach 2-1 at home.
The Host opened the scoring in the 21st minute, when Niko Giesselmann netted the ball with a bullet header from close range. Nigerian striker Taye Taiwo doubled the lead for Union Berlin before the break. Then, Jonas Hofmann scored the consolation for Monchengladbach in the dying moments of the match, which was just too little too late.
