Zverev races past Rublev, captures Cincinnati Crown

Alexander Zverev has completed his dominant week at the Cincinnati masters by cruising past Andrey Rublev in straight sets to lift his 5th ATP Masters 1000 title.

In a lively start, Zverev flew out to a 3-love lead before closing out the first set 6-2 after just 27 minutes. He carried the momentum into the 2nd, soaking up Rublev’s heavy-hitting and forcing the Russian into errors to secure his impressive victory at 6-3. Zverev now becomes the first German champion in Cincinnati since Boris Becker in 1985, and also the first player to win the Cincinnati Crown and the Olympic Gold in the same year since Andre Agassi in 1996.
