A mass shooting in the UK's southwestern city of Plymouth has left several people dead- among them a three-year-old girl.

Jake Davison, a 23-year-old apprentice crane operator, was a licensed gun owner who launched the lone-wolf attack using a pump action shotgun.

Police said his motive was still unknown, but Davison's social media accounts offer a window into his state of mind. A case in point, his video posts on YouTube where he expresses his love for the American gun culture, and bemoans how he has missed out on his teenage years.

He was also a member of incel, a notorious online community of celibate men with misogynistic views.

Police have called the incident not terror-related, raising questions about whether the police would give the same designation if the gunman were someone from a minority group.

The UK has stringent gun ownership laws. The last time such an incident happened was in 2010, when a taxi driver killed 18 people. It was almost clear that Davison was radicalized online, which begs the question whether the authorities could have done more to prevent the horrifying killing spree.
