Afghanistan fighting 

The Taliban say they have captured the third Afghan provincial capital in two days. The militant group has overrun the northeastern city of Kunduz, the capital of a province with the same name. That followed heavy fighting with government forces in the city center which made them retreat to the airport. The Taliban had already taken two other provincial capitals – Zaranj in Nimruz and Sheberghan in Jawzjan. But Kunduz is the most significant to fall into their hands. The group has also seized dozens of districts and border crossings in recent weeks and now battling for several key cities. The Taliban have intensified their offensive following the withdrawal of US-led foreign forces.

Hezbollah Israel warning 

Hezbollah chief, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, has pledged an appropriate response to any Israeli attack. The Secretary-general of the Lebanese resistance movement noted that Hezbollah needed to quickly respond to the Israeli attack of Lebanese lands on August 5 in order to maintain the deterrence power.

Tunisia political limbo 

Two weeks after the suspension of parliament in Tunisia, actors in the country's political scene are awaiting the next step by President Kais Saied who has activated Article 80 of the Tunisian Constitution. The article allows Said to assume executive powers in times of national crisis.
