“I thank the Olympian medalists, who delighted the Iranian nation through their endeavor,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated in a message on Saturday.

The Leader’s expression of gratitude towards the athletes came as the country wrapped up its attendance in the historic event.

The games took off on July 23 and is to witness its epilogue on Sunday.

It was competed by more than 11,000 athletes from across the world.

The Iranian representatives bagged as many as seven medals—three golds, two silvers, and two bronzes—on the back of scintillating performance in shooting, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, weight-lifting, and karate.
