Protesters march down streets in Tokyo to call for Olympics cancellation

About one hundred protesters marched through the streets of Tokyo to call for the cancellation of the Olympics.

The protesters shouted slogans and carried banners, many of them reading "cancel the Olympics." Worries still linger over the coronavirus risk as the Olympics games go on in the city.

Tokyo Olympics organizers on Sunday reported 18 new Games-related COVID-19 cases including one athlete, bringing the total Games-linked number since July 1 to 259.

COVID-19 cases in Olympic host city Tokyo surged to a record high of 4,058 on Saturday, July 31. The government has extended a state of emergency in the capital and expanded it to neighbouring prefectures.
