Afflicting insecurity on our borders, a dream enemies will take to their graves: IRGC

The chief commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) offers his prediction concerning the fate of the dream that is constantly harbored by the Islamic Republic’s adversaries of afflicting insecurity on its borders.

“Afflicting insecurity on the Islamic countries’ borders, including those of Iran, has invariably formed one of the enemies and foreigners’ strategies,” Major General Hossein Salami said on Sunday.

“However, they will take this dream to their graves,” he added.

“Our borders are safe and strong, and the Islamic Iran’s youths are standing strong and preserving the security,” noted the commander.

The official passed the remarks during a ceremony entitled to commemorating those who have been martyred in the service of the country’s defense from the western border province of Kordestan’s Sanandaj County.

He acknowledged the province’s decades-old sacrifices in the face of the “vehement invasions” that the global arrogant powers have been waging against the country on various fronts.

General Salami also paid tribute to the province’s ongoing endeavors towards ensuring the country’s security.

Given its hugely strategic position in the Middle East region, the Islamic Republic’s borders are continually subject to infiltration, sabotage, and terrorist operations by the foreign-backed and -funded elements, who are holed up in the neighboring countries.

The situation holds especially true for the borders that run along Iraq and Syria to the west, and Afghanistan and Pakistan to the east. 

The border provinces that lie in the areas, including Kordestan, have in the past come under countless such vicious operations. The provinces have, however, managed to fend for the country thanks to prompt action by the IRGC, the Army, and the Law Enforcement Force.

Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The Islamic Republic is, meanwhile, providing military advisory assistance to Iraq and Syria towards curbing foreign-backed militancy and Takfiri terrorism there. It is also in a state of constant cooperation with Pakistan and Afghanistan in the face of potential terrorist activities targeting the common borders.

The country has warned that it would not hesitate to chase potential attackers back into the countries they could come from.

The Corps has on several occasions fired volleys of missiles against gatherings belonging to militants and the Takfiri terrorist group of Daesh outside the country’s borders.
