Tokyo 2020: Athletes arrive in Japan for Olympics

After a year-long delay and despite opposition to the Olympic Games, a group of Athletes from different countries have arrived in Japan, as the countdown to the opening ceremony hit the 3-week mark.

The arrival of Olympic teams had started from Thursday as Athletes from Ireland and Germany arrived in Tokyo and athletes from countries, including Australia, Ghana, and Argentina joined them on Friday. All overseas, athletes are required to take 2 COVID-19 tests during the 4-day period before their departure for Tokyo 2020, and another test upon arrival at the airport in Japan.

The Tokyo Olympics, delayed by a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, are scheduled to open on July 23, but organizers still face tough decisions on how to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
