ICC Israeli war crimes probe

Palestinians have expressed strong disapproval of the German president’s opposition to the International Criminal Court’s probe into Israeli war crimes. Resistance movement, Hamas said Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s remarks are a blatant support for Israel’s aggressive policies against the Palestinian nation. Hamas said such remarks will encourage Israel to continue its crimes and put the regime above international law. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry also said the status of the State of Palestine at the international level is not subject to the opinions of the German president or his state. Steinmeier had said the ICC has no jurisdiction to probe Israeli crimes due to the absence of Palestinian statehood.
