Ex-Pentagon chief dies at 88

Donald Rumsfeld, the former Pentagon chief dubbed the architect of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, has died at the age of 88.

He oversaw the US invasion of Afghanistan following the 9/11 attacks in 2001. Two years later, the US invaded Iraq under his command.

He came under fire after images surfaced of American troops abusing Iraqi prisoners. Rumsfeld resigned as the Secretary of Defense in 2006.
