The first round of the Euro 2020 knockout games has kicked off with Denmark hammering Wales 4-nil in the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam.

Denmark were almost dominant in the first half and took the lead in the 27th minute when Kasper Dolberg curled a wonderful shot inside the right-hand post from distance.

Shortly after the break, Dolberg scored his second to double the lead for Denmark.

Things only got worse for Wales, when Joakim Maehle cut inside and smashed the ball into the top corner 2 minutes from time.

And it didn’t end there. The final blow came deep into stoppage time when Martin Braithwaite fired in the fourth. His effort had initially been ruled out for offside but was later approved following VAR review.

Denmark will next meet the winner of the match between the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
