Germany have come from a goal down to smash Group F rivals Portugal 4-2 at Allianz Arena in Munich.
Portugal took a 1-nil lead inside 15 minutes, when Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 107th international goal to move within just 2 goals of Iran’s legendary striker Ali Daei.
But, the hosts who were avoiding early elimination from the tournament, piled on the pressure and forced the Portuguese to make mistakes. two own goals in the space of 5 minutes gave the Germans a half time lead.
Joachim Low’s side made it 3-1 just 6 minutes after the break, through Chelsea striker Kai Havertz.
The Germans put the match beyond doubt when Robin Gosens scored the 4th on the hour mark with a bullet header from a cross by Joshua Kimmich.
Liverpool striker Diogo Jota poked in Ronaldo’s cut back in the 67th minute, but the defending champions were unable to mount a comeback. It was a much needed victory for Germany, as it keeps their hopes alive for a place in the last 16. They will next host Hungary in 3 days time.
