Resistance to deal ‘lethal blow’ to Zionists in future: IRGC

A Palestinian man poses for a picture with his children in front of the destroyed al-Shuruq building, destroyed by an Israeli air strike, on May 21, 2021, in Gaza City.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the great victory of the Palestinian resistance front in the face of Israel’s recent crimes and warmongering proves that the “atrocious and child-killing” regime is facing definite decline and must expect “lethal and heavy blow” from brave Palestinians.

The IRGC issued a congratulatory statement on Friday on the occasion of the “historic and strategic” victory of the Palestinians in their 11-day struggle against the occupying regime of Israel.

The Israeli regime announced a unilateral ceasefire starting at 2 a.m. on Friday, which was accepted by the Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza with Egyptian mediation.

The Israeli aggression on Gaza, which began on May 10, killed at least 243 Palestinians and wounded more than 1,900 others, according to the Gazan Health Ministry.

The aggression had started after weeks of Israeli harassment of Palestinians in Jerusalem al-Quds and attempts to steal Palestinian lands in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of the city.

The IRGC said “Operation Sword of al-Quds” exposed the superior hand of the Intifada in the battlefield and the change of equations in favor of the Palestinians in their confrontation with the Zionists.

“From now on, the iron dome defense system and all-out support of the US terrorist regime and other regional and trans-regional allies in the confrontation with the Intifada, which has evolved from 'stone' [throwing] to pinpoint and powerful missiles, will have no imaginary effect and the oppressed Palestinian people’s resolve is the determining (factor) in big incidents in the future -- a future where Zionists must constantly expect lethal blows from the resistance front based in the occupied territories and the brave Palestinian fighters,” the statement read.

It added that determination of the Palestinian resistance throughout the occupied lands, particularly in al-Quds, the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, has shattered the dreams of the “fake and criminal Zionist regime” and some Muslim countries which normalized ties with Israel and “brought the final decline of this brutal regime closer to the eyes of the world more than ever before.”

The IRGC said, “The 11-day battle of the brave and courageous Palestinian fighters, which ended with the Zionists’ begging for unilateral ceasefire, showed more than any fact that the ‘hit and run era’ and destruction of homes as well as displacement of oppressed and defenseless Palestinians is over.”

It emphasized that the firm resolve of the main owners of the Holy Land, from al-Quds to Gaza and to the Mediterranean coasts and to the most northern parts of the occupied lands, strongly seeks to reclaim the ancestral lands and ousting the usurping occupiers.

The statement noted that from now on, the Zionists should tolerate living in panic and horror, and emphasized that they should take practical steps to end attacks on al-Quds and the al-Aqsa Mosque and refrain from any miscalculation to carry out new criminal and warmongering acts.

“The cancerous tumor of Israel is going down the path of annihilation, and the occupiers have well understood that they will not be able to continue bullying, violence and the killing of defenseless Palestinian women, men and children, and repeat brutal and medieval adventures,” the statement pointed out.

It said the Israeli regime must think about its criminal scenarios against Palestine with caution “because the Palestinian groups will no longer heed their hollow threats.”

The commander of the IRGC Quds Force Brigadier General Esmaeil Qa’ani said on Thursday no matter how much pressures and sanctions are imposed on the Islamic Republic, it will never let Palestine be alone in its confrontation with the Zionist regime.

Iran Foreign Ministry hails resistance victory in defense of Palestinian cause

Iran's Foreign Ministry also in a statement on Friday hailed resistance and sacrifice of the Palestinian people, especially the brave and patient people of Gaza, against the brutal attacks of the Zionist regime, and congratulated the success of the resistance front in defending the Palestinian cause.

The ministry reiterated the Islamic Republic’s support for the Palestinian people’s fight against the Israeli regime, and said the recent developments revitalized ties among the Palestinians in different regions, raised the Palestinian issue once again in the region and across the world, attracted widespread popular support for the resistance, disgraced the occupying Zionist regime even more, and highlighted al-Quds as the common concern among all Palestinians and the Muslim world.

The Palestinian people’s resistance clearly showed the defeat of a disgraceful move by some Arab countries to normalize ties with the Tel Aviv regime, the statement said, and added that those states are expected to respect resistance of the Palestinians and make a fundamental revision of their policies.

In September 2020, the United Arab Emirates was the first country to establish full diplomatic relations with Israel as part of an agreement brokered by former US President Donald Trump.

Bahrain also signed the accord with Israel, followed by Morocco and Sudan.

The deals sparked outrage across Muslim countries.

In defiance of global criticism, Trump had also relocated the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds in December 2017, calling the holy occupied city Israel’s “capital.”

Elsewhere in its statement, the Foreign Ministry pointed to horrific crimes committed by the Zionist regime in attacking residential areas and killing defenseless Palestinians and called for the prosecution of Israeli authorities as war criminals and recognizing the child-killing regime’s moves as genocide and crimes against humanity.

It emphasized the need to increase the capabilities of the Palestinian people in legitimate self-defense and boost Palestine’s deterrent power in order to prevent the recurrence and continuation of Israel’s aggression and attacks.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran announces its readiness to dispatch humanitarian and medical aid to the Palestinian people and calls on all relevant organizations and countries to provide the necessary assistance and facilities for the dispatch of aid to the Palestinian people given the depth of the [Israeli] regime's inhumane crimes in Gaza and the conditions resulting from the coronavirus outbreak in the region,” the statement concluded.

Palestine will be freed: Foreign Ministry spokesman

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh, meanwhile, extended his congratulations to the Palestinian “sisters and brothers” over the “historic victory”, and said Palestine will be freed.

“Referendum will be held. Till then, PROUD to support your just resistance,” Khatibzadeh said in a post on his Twitter account.
