East-Asian hate crime rising in UK, US

Anti-Asian hate crime has continued to rise in both the UK and the US since the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The coronavirus pandemic has spread throughout the world killing over three million and infecting over 150 million people worldwide from all different backgrounds. While the virus does not discriminate, people in the western world do.

In major cities in the US anti-Asian hate crimes have increased by 146% and in the UK there has been a staggering rise of 300 percent in hate crime against Chinese, east, and southeast Asians.

But when you look at the coverage in mainstream media outlets in both the UK and the US it becomes clear that the demonization of China goes much further than the Trump administration.

As long as Beijing continues to grow and threaten the West's economic dominance. It is likely that the US and UK’s hostility towards China will continue, which could be bad news for East-Asian communities living in both countries.
