Iran-China strategic partnership

Iran and China have signed a historic 25-year Strategic Partnership, marking an extraordinary milestone in the relationship between the two nations.

As the United States seeks to malign Iran and isolate it with sanctions, China seeks to invest in Iran’s infrastructure in exchange for a steady supply of crude, with a deepening of cooperation between the two countries in their economies, military and diplomacy.

Richard Medhurst sits down with author and journalist Pepe Escobar to discuss this historic deal between two ancient civilizations who’ve enjoyed bilateral ties for thousands of years; a strategic partnership which will see Iran integrated into China’s Belt and Road initiative marks a seismic shift in international relations and Asia’s geopolitical standing.
