In the 2022 World Cup European qualifiers and in Group B, Spain suffered a frustrating 1-all draw against Greece as they kicked off their campaign in Granada.
The host took the lead via Alvaro Morata who put his side ahead with a precise effort into the top left corner in the 33rd minute.
But Inigo Martinez’s foul in the 55th minute awarded the Greeks with a penalty, and Anastasios Bakasetas won the battle of wills and sent an unstoppable penalty past Unai Simon in the 57th minute to deny the victory for the Spaniards.
Next for Spain will be a trip to Tbilisi for a line up against Georgia on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Greece will play host to the Georgians on Wednesday.
