UEFA Champions League: Paris Saint-Germain eliminate Barcelona

Over football news, Paris Saint-Germain have advanced to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League, despite being held to a 1-all draw by Barcelona at the Parc des Princes.

The hosts came into the action with a 4-1 advantage, as they took a 1-nil lead when Kylian Mbappe converted a VAR awarded penalty in the 31st minute.

Just 6 minutes later, Argentinean superstar Lionel Messi leveled the match with a great stunner from outside the box, but it was not enough to qualify for the next round. The Catalan Giants were knocked out of the most prestigious European tournament with a 5-2 loss on aggregate.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have sealed a spot in the quarterfinals of the Champions League after beating German club RB Leipzig 2-nil at Anfield.

The Merseyside Reds had to wait until the 71st minute when Egyptian superstar Mohammad Salah netted the ball with a calm finish.

Only 3 minutes later, Sadio Mane put the icing on the cake with a 1-time shot from close range. With the victory, Yurgen Klopp’s side are through to the next round with a 4-nil win on aggregate, despite their disappointing performance in the English Premier League.
