UEFA Champions League: Lazio 1-4 Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have earned a super victory at Stadio Olimpico after hammering Lazio 4-1 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 knockout tie.

The defending champions got on the scoresheet 9 minutes into the match after Robert Lewandowski capitalized on a defensive mistake to tap the ball home from close range. Then, English teenager Jamal Musiala doubled the lead for the visitors with a nice shot from the edge of the box in the 24th minute.

The Bavarians killed the contest before the break when German midfielder Leroy Sane netted the ball in from a rebound. Francesco Acerbi then scored a rather unfortunate own goal, following a perfect run by Sane to complete Lazio's misery at home, just 2 minutes after the break.

2 minutes later, Joaquin Correa managed to score a consolation for Lazio, but that didn't stop Hansi Flick's men taking a step closer towards securing a spot in the next round of the Champions League. The German side will host the Italians at the Allianz Arena on the 17th of March.

Chelsea have also registered an outstanding 1-nil victory against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last 16 first leg.

The match was held In Romania’s capital Bucharest, instead of Madrid because of Covid-19 restrictions. The London Blues had to wait until the 68th minute to seal the victory when Frenchman Olivier Giroud scored the winner with a spectacular overhead kick.

Chelsea have now gone 8 matches unbeaten under Thomas Tuchel and the win put them in pole position to reach the quarter-finals.
