More than half of US citizens to refuse or delay COVID vaccine

About 51 percent of Americans are still hesitant or opposed to getting the COVID vaccine, a new poll found.

The survey comes four days after a similar report by the Pentagon officials, announcing that an unspecified number of service members and military personnel are refusing to get inoculated.

According to the survey, conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation, 31 percent of this group said they are waiting to see further results about the vaccination; 13 percent said they will refuse to take it under any condition, and 7 percent claimed they only will if required.

“Those who have not yet been vaccinated for Covid-19 have many concerns and information needs related to the new vaccines,’’ the pollsters said in a statement. “About half say they don’t have enough information about the vaccine’s side effects or effectiveness.’’

US COVID-19 vaccines “are experimental in nature, not thoroughly tested for possible side effects and long-term effects, difficult to administer, and exorbitantly expensive,” Dennis Etler has said.

More than 100,000 people have died of Covid-19 in the United States so far this year, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Since January 1, the US reported a total of 100,317 Covid-19 deaths, bringing the total number of reported deaths in the US since the start of the pandemic to 446,689 by Tuesday evening.
