Iran Army Ground Forces kick off drills in southern regions

The Ground Forces of Iran’s Army have kicked off war games along the Makran coasts of the Sea of Oman, southeast of Iran.
The drills, called Eqtedar (Strength) 99, started with the participation of airborne units, Special Forces, and rapid-reaction forces.
The troops received logistical and combat support from the Air Force and the Army Ground Forces’ airborne division at the coastal zones in Hormozgan Province.
A combination of homegrown and creative military tactics was practiced in the offense exercise based on the new structure of the Ground Forces.
Press TV talked to Iran’s Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, who attended the drills, asking him if the extensive war games are in reaction to the deployment of forces by the US to the region in recent weeks. We also talked to the war games’ spokesman, who gave more details regarding the drills on land and at sea.
The Iranian military forces have held several massive maneuvers over the past few weeks. The importance of this year’s military drills performed by the Army relies on the native nature of the military equipment used in these events. Almost all of the equipment used in the drills are homegrown.
