Giro d'Italia: Filippo Gannawins stage 14
Filippo Ganna has powered to a brilliant victory in the stage 14 time trial at the Giro d'Italia, while the race leader Joao Almeida further extended his lead in the general classification.
Home rider Ganna destroyed the competition to complete a hat-trick of stage victories at the Italian Grand Tour, after posting a blistering time of 42 minutes 40 seconds, 26 seconds faster than Australian Rohan Dennis in second place.
Brandon McNulty of USA finished in third. That’s while the Pink Jersey holder, Joao Almeida enjoyed an excellent day in the saddle, gaining almost one minute on his nearest rival Wilco Kelderman, with Pello Bilbao trailing the leader in third by over two minutes.
Stage 15 on Sunday will be a 185 kilometre m mountainous trek.
