Normalization act of betrayal against al-Quds issue, Palestinian cause: Senior Hezbollah official

A high-ranking official with the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement has strongly condemned normalization with Israel as a betrayal of the Palestinian cause, emphasizing that Arab rulers scrambling to establish diplomatic ties with the Tel Aviv regime have reaped nothing but humiliation and disgrace.

“There is neither any justification nor any benefit for the countries that announced normalization. Such a move actually affirmed the occupation of Palestinian land,” Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem said on Monday as he addressed an international forum dubbed “Muslims and Christians in the face of Normalization.”

“Normalization exposed the true nature of hypocrites. Palestinians now can differentiate between those who are supporting them, and those who are not,” he added.

“Normalization is an act by rulers who have been rejected by their own nations,” the senior Hezbollah official highlighted.

He underlined that Palestinians are at the vanguard of the resistance front seeking to liberate Jerusalem al-Quds, calling for support for them.

Sheikh Qassem was reacting to the recent decisions by the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain to sign contentious US-mediated normalization deals with Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signed the deals with Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Bahrain's Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani during an official ceremony hosted by US President Donald Trump at the White House on September 15.

Palestinians, who seek an independent state in the occupied West Bank and Gaza, with East Jerusalem as its capital, view the deals as betrayal of their cause.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas protested the normalization deals with Israel, saying they will be fruitless as long as the United States and the Israeli regime do not recognize the rights of the Palestinian nation and refuse to resolve the issue of Palestinian refugees.
