Ligue 1: Neymar banned for 2 games

Ligue 1 organizers have given PSG’s Neymar a 2-game ban over striking Marseille’s Alvaro Gonzalez in last Sunday’s 1-nil defeat at Parc des Princes.

The league statement also has stated that defender Gonzalez is also under investigation after Neymar accused the Spaniard of using racist language toward him during the clash in which a total of five players received red cards. But the heaviest ban went to Parisian's defender, Layvin Kurzawa, who is not allowed to step in the pitch for 6 games.

Also, Marseille’s defender, Jordan Amavi, is banned for three games. Neymar who has also received a suspended sanction of an additional one-match ban, will make his returns against Stade de Reims on Sept. the 27th.

PSG's Angel di Maria, who was booked during the game, but was not punished for the fight, has been called to attend a meeting of the league's disciplinary committee next Wednesday. Neymar had justified lashing out at Alvaro by saying the Spaniard had racially abused him. Alvaro has denied Neymar's allegation.
